The banks later offer the homes at a foreclosed sale.
When you want to by a bank foreclosure, there are three stages involved. The first one is when the owner wishes to sell the home while still within the period of re-instatement to regain equity on the home. The next stage is when house is ready to be sold at a public auction. During the auctions you can gain if you bid a fair price, and win. You can get the home at a rate that is lower than the current market rate. You will however have to pay the bank in cash for this deal.
The final stage, which is the third stage, is when the bank foreclosure homes are owned by real estate owners (REO). The homes are usually sold at a still lower price; it depends with how well the buyer can bargain. In order to recover the losses, many banks usually slash the prices in order to regain the investment with minimal holding costs.
